The Zombie uprising is doomed to fail

We live in an era where most people have an idea of what they'll be doing once shit hits the fan and Aunt Betty raises from the grave and begins turning your brains in to the next Sunday roast, but is it really necessary?

*note that I am basing this off Romero classic zombie who spread infection via bite, are slow, and very comical

We all know the scenario by now, so let's just skip the technical introduction and go straight in to the reasons why we should all chill out about the thought of zombie chaos!

Congratulations! You've now survived the first wave zombie strike. The local goths were thankfully the first to go, that's what they deserve for putting their balls where they weren't supposed to go. 

See, Romero's zombie were never fast, and aside from the grab lunge as seen in Night of the Living Dead,  Day of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead, you could pretty much continue about your day to day life without worrying too much.

For anyone who were abused as children and prevented from seeing the Romero zombies, I've supplied a link to the full movie in 720p for free on Youtube at the end of this article, you're welcome.

The average speed of a human living in Western Europe and America is 4mp - that's walking with intent - while zombies tend to stagger, after viewing the movies again, I calculated the following:

Based on a distance of 1 meter

The average time for a zombie to cross 1 meter is 4 seconds at a stagger 

That places the zombie's speed at 0.7456 mph

You outspeed them by over 3 mph

At worst case scenario for the zombie:

Based on a distance of 1 meter

The average time for a zombie to cross 1 meter is 4 seconds at a stagger 

Add in obstacles such as stairs, where a zombie could on average cross 1 stair per second

The average speed for a zombie would be: 0.3482 mph

In the movies, we all seem to follow the dumbest bitches to ever escape Darwinism who run straight in to the zombies then wonder why their brains are being skull fucked by their old biology teacher who shot himself after Star Trek was cancelled on CBS. 

Even zombie hordes wouldn't be that hard to escape. Unless you are trapped in a two way street with zombies at both exists and no building to escape in to then all you are required to do is walk around them in the same manner as your ex girlfriend does to you in the club.

This is a tank for all of those living in countries that use MLP as a national pass time:

These can survive direct impacts from IEDs, air bombardment, most RPG, and human fists.

I'm not going to insult your intelligence by stating the obvious, however say to say that if shawtee be rolling a tank down to the club in a world full of zombies then not a single shit would be given - most armoured vehicles used by the USA, Britain, France and...pretty much all nations now, are so beefed up to be so advanced to fight the other stuff that's beefed up to be advanced. 

All the military would need to do is blast some Highway to Hell as they roll down the streets, crushing the unfortunate bodies of the dearly departed. 

At last calculation, the combination total estimate of all armoured tech in nations belong to the UN Council was just under 3,000,000. 

So it's all cool if you have an armoured car, but what about infantry?

Remember that speed calculations? I'm sure infantry will be more than safe to escape the average speed of a zombie.

A common argument is that you need to shoot a zombie in the head or it'll keep coming but I match this with the following logic:

Decaying flesh vs. average round fired from FN SCAR or SA80 with an average distance of 40 meters = one hell of an exist wound which could probably detach the zombie from its legs. 

Even luckier if you live in a country like the US where every citizen is armed to the teeth - life would be pretty normal, with exception that the murders cause from deaths each year would be rewarded with the Zombie-hunter Cross. 

There's also the Navy which is more powerful that the Army for firepower, and combined with the airforce there would literally be no threat of the zombies getting far.

Most modern construction has become so sophisticated in keeping that scum that is humanity from entering your personal space that security has never been so strong. This has become such a problem that police across many countries are having to re-assess their forceful entry battering rams. 

Windows too have become so strong that modern double-glazed glass can survive a direct impact from most objects, especially in Europe where the European Union forces a certain level of construction sufficiency. 

See how the store windows are intact? Those were intact by the end of the movie (aside from the damage causes by the bikers). That glass is from the 70s and was cheap even for then. nearly 30 years on and a higher standard of resistant glass is used for domestic construction; not so much for security but more for interior climate control, regardless it still does the job.

Equilibrium and 1984 are the same universe

Equilibrium is the future world of 1984 where Oceania won the war 

Not surprising that the similarities between these two works are common, Equilibrium could just be seen as a  martial arts knock off of Orwell's masterpiece, however what if one is the future of the other?

In 1984 there are many things in the works by Big Brother and the Party that have been achieved in the Equilibrium world; for example, one main cause of the Party is to eliminate the orgasm, which has clearly been achieved in Equilibrium.

"We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother. There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. When we are omnipotent we shall have no more need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always -- do not forget this, Winston -- always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Look at Equilibrium, doesn't it seem that all of that has been achieved? We're not quite sure how reproduction is performed in the world of Equilibrium, however the fact that all sensation has been chemically removed matches up perfectly with the 1984 universe.

Even the operation of the Party is consistent in Equilibrium

In 1984 all possible resources are put into protecting the oppression of the people, and Prozium was the tool to which the party aimed for.

Once the enemy was defeated, despite the book's claim that the war would be never ending, there was no need to even have the basic emotion of hatred. The family unit in Equilibrium is artificial, and we see how easily the Thought Police AKA Grammaton Clerics are able to assess the minds of those with false thoughts and emotions.

In 1984 Big Brother is paraded on the screens wherever possible, as is the case in Equilibrium - the two are so identical that you could clean up the streets of the 1984 movie, apply for slightly more advanced technology, alter the clothing, and you'd be left with the exact same world.

So why isn't there mention of the old Party, Big Brother or past events in Equilibrium?

Simple: by that point in time the party were successful in erasing paper documents which put into question the false truths of the Party, and as the world moved into computer era, the ability to delete people, information and new was so simple that human history was remove. The removal of emotion destroyed any urge to know about the past or compare it - the people of Equilibrium did not know if what they had was good or worse than previous.

"If the Party could thrust its hand into the past and say of this or that event, it never happened — that, surely, was more terrifying than mere torture and death?" 1984, Chapter 3

"The past, he reflected, had not merely been altered, it had been actually destroyed. For how could you establish even the most obvious fact when there existed no record outside your own memory?"

It could also be argued that the American side of Oceania had its own version of Big Brother known as father which was the American doppelganger used to make Americans feel as though they were the centre of the Party, as was the case in London.

The war of 1984 turned nuclear, it's not hard to imagine. We know that 1984 is set after World War II, where clearly nuclear weapons were used. Russia AKA Eurasia was another nuclear powerhouse. At one point in the universe, the need to maintain a constant war faded and all hell broke lose, leading to the true World War III:

"In the first years of the 21st century, a third World War broke out. Those of us who survived knew mankind could never survive a fourth; that our own volatile natures could simply no longer be risked. So we have created a new arm of the law: The Grammaton Cleric, whose sole task it is to seek out and eradicate the true source of man's inhumanity to man - his ability to feel."

An argument for free-market economics

Free-market economics is the removal of restriction and regulation by government entities relating to mainstream enterprise and business. In free-market economics, the distribution of goods and service is based almost entirely on demand – that is to say that the higher demand, the greater production and thus lower prices, whereas current economics allows business to charge infinite fold in comparison to the actual production cost.

Free-market economics may fall in to two political ideologies in the United Kingdom: Socialist or right winged Conservative. In general, each ideology will view free-market economics as either good or bad, depending on the then political climate, and economic stability. Both sides will also have separate base-line philosophies over the principle purpose of free-markets.

For example, many socialists view free-market economics as the removal of large, multinational corporations in favour of diverse, small business. In free-market economics, employees are not property of their employers, and are given wages which directly reflect the wealth generation of the business or enterprise they are employed by. It is currently used in companies such as John Lewis, where employees are given shares and have bonuses calculated at a percentage of the total wealth.

Socialists would view this as prosperous for employees; however Conservative principles would see it in favour of business owners, or those wishing to set up business. In free-market economics, there are no regulations preventing businesses from buying out competition, nor are there often strict regulations on the sourcing of materials to make a project (although, often is the case in traditional capitalism). Such a lack of competition laws not only allows successful companies to increase in value from the amalgamation of failing or small business, but also motivates business to be more successful and sensible with the output of fiscal – when sharks surround a vessel, not often will divers jump into the jaws.

My argument for free-market economics extends to private consumed goods; regulation of items which are not essential to life would be removed, with items indispensable to survival remaining regulated on the basis of public safety – basic water, food and health care supplies/medication; goods created for the military or police services, and items used by emergency services.

Capitalism has been incredibly successful for three hundred years, particularly to this Island which used currency as a method of encouraging innovation; greed is an extremely powerful motivational tool.

The fundamental dilemma with capitalism is that where wealth should be in continuous motion, business and individuals have reached the point where their income has reached stagnation. They cannot possible enter their profits back into society or their business quick enough. Some of the top earners are simply greedy, with no care for the needs of society.

If the top 100 earners on Earth invested their stagnated earnings back into the world, then world poverty would have been ended several times over; we’d have enough finance to end cancer and much disease, and we’d be having arguments over politics on Mars!

I see free-market economics as a way of preventing this from occurring. When customers and employees have so much power of business, it is fair to say that business will do the right thing, even if it is for the wrong reason. Starbucks is the prime example; the people of Britain simply stopped buying over-priced coffee from their shops. What happened? Did they leave the country? Did they close down? No, they got to their knees and begged forgiveness despite fears that taxation would drive business away. In reality, Britain is a consumer nation – our currency is a paradise to multinational business for being ahead of both the Euro and the Dollar. We need to take advantage of this more.

Regulation frightens many businesses and increases their costs – many lawyers and legal experts are employed by the largest of companies just to avoid regulation; avoiding tax and escaping through loopholes.

We shouldn’t make it harder to trade in this country than it already is, and so long the citizens have true power of the markets (not the government, but the people) then regulations aren’t required.

Under socialistic free-market economies, all the wealth, all the money, all the resources of individuals who allow them to sit in bank accounts for tens of years, with no intentions of investment, are forced to share the profits of their fruit.

Common myths debunked

1. A common argument is that markets would not provide high quality goods or services to consumers.

Why is this false?

Imagine you are a customer, and you buy, for example, a laptop computer from company A. That computer breaks within a week; your partner has also bought a mobile phone from company A; the mobile phone lasts for 2 weeks, to the despair of the family. John Smith, your next door neighbour has also bought from company A; his items have malfunctioned within a week also. You all complain to company A, but no help is offered.

You, your neighbours, and fellow dissatisfied customers join to spread the word that company A produces poor quality items. Company B offers the same range of product for a smaller introductory price; these items are of far higher standard and soon company A is out of business due to poor business ethics.

In free-market economics, the consumer is forced to be as active in the process of transaction as the manufacturer. This is nothing new to any society – for hundreds of years, this is the essential workings of business. If a craftsman produced poor items, his local community would apply pressure to him until improvements were made. In modern consumerism, very rarely do customers take the time to actively make their dissatisfaction known. It was ‘too impolite’; the people of the nation have often had attempts to brainwash and indoctrinate via ‘politeness’, though happily this has failed, especially in Scotland where we still use curse words to greet our best friends. Free-market economics hands power directly back to the consumer; business is submissive to their clients for the very sake of survival.

2. Free-Markets create slave culture by removing set-wage regulations

Prior to national minimum wage, the standard of pay was significantly higher; the problematic nature of national minimum wage is not the morality of the idea behind the system, rather the inability of the system to cope with variations In the economic climate. A system of pay forced by law gives excuse to business to pay no higher than they are legally obliged to. In older days, wages were negotiated by unions and the workers directly, and would often be increased with inflation.

Free-market economics in a socialist sense treats the employee as having a share in the company, as an alternative to being a drone to production.

3. Free-market economics leads to the destruction of unions and workers’ rights

Historically this myth is unfounded. The majority of trade unions were introduced, created and succeeded in free-market Britain prior to the 1970s and the Thatcher genocide of working class dignity. For example, the Labour Party has its roots in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and other Industrial towns where workers were abused. In the 1800s, the first organised strikes occurred against owners – despite the lack of any regulation to simply fire employees, the owners were forced to listen to demand as the workers had blockaded the factories and brought production – therefore profit – to a complete stop.

The essential basis of this myth forms from Thatcherite economics, masquerading as free-market economics. Free-market economics could be closely related to Marxism socialism, which I am most certain Margaret Thatcher would not have approved of. Thatcher too away the power of the working man; socialist free-markets return them in extensive amounts.

4. Last but not least – free-market economics allows business to skip tax and sell apple juice as flu medicine

No! No! No!

Our tax system is broke, regulation and legislation opens up more loop holes than it closes. Count the number of companies that have avoided tax. Go on. When you return, I doubt very much you will a) find less than a handful b) not have used the services of atleast one.

When there are no regulation bodies to refer to, business can no longer fall back onto the coined phrase of ‘please refer complaints to X organisation’. You, the citizen, the consumer are in control of regulation, even if it is not written into law. Removing regulation removes the reliance on government to police business.

I do agree that several industries require regulation, pharmaceutical being one. I’ll touch on this below. Briefly, pharmaceutical industry use the same business model as any other industry – they require their product to be received well by consumes (the sick) therefore it’s in their best interest that people don’t drop dead from flu drops, and that their product actually heals.

Industries that need regulation

There are some industries that do require regulation over production, I will list them and allow you to make your own mind up:

Pharmaceutics and medical production – regulation to protect the consumer and NHS interests; prevention of placebo drugs and faulty equipment

Transport (public) – nationalisation, transport is essential to life and the movement of people is paramount to employability and civil freedoms

Mainstream media – regulation to prevent articles without foundation being broadcasted or displayed; media should no longer have such significant power of voters with scare tactics funded by private individuals

Power, gas, essential foods and water – nationalisation; these are all essential to life, and a country such as ours rich in all four commodities should not be allowed to starve

Vehicles – minimum regulation to prevent public health hazards, and to assist in environmental reform

Arms industry for both military and civil security – regulations to ensure quality of equipment for armed services, police and fire services; only government or local authority workers/agents should be charged with the duty of protecting the people, no private firms

Electronics – bare minimum regulation for safety standards

So, in closing, I’d ask you forget everything you have been taught about free-markets, they are often lies created by those too afraid to embrace the power of people over business; governments bow to business, the people do not.

So I have been re-watching Batman and suddenly a theory popped in to my head as to why the Joker specifically became the character that he is.

The Joker is deadly fearful of Clowns and other performers.

In the same way that Batman turned his fear of bats into his greatest tool, the Joker turned his fear of clowns and other freak shows into the most powerful asset of evil.

Why is the Joker afraid of Clowns and other performers though?

I think the many stories of the Joker's father gives a look into the psychology of the Joker; at one point he was a normal child up until he attempted to make his father laugh at some point, at which point his father went apeshit. In both the comic, the animated series and the new trilogy, we see the Joker give various stories of how he was abused - the common root is that he tried to please his father through laughter, to which he was severely punished, and there-on from was twisted, then when the incident of chemical waste occurred, all those mental instabilities burst open, with his psychopathic nature embodied by the performer, being released.

A petty mod-hound was turned into Gotham's greatest monster.

The Joker used the Batman philosophy - turn your greatest fear against others and make them afraid of it too.

Having once again read 1984, I am pretty much assured that the scenario of the book and the elements contained within it are now becoming far more than just a cautionary tale of governments gone wrong.

When the book was published, in 1948, there was a distinct lack of the technology contained within the book such as two-way view screens, extensive wireless audio recording and even the ability to erase and alter newspapers post-release.

In the 21st century, however, there is an increasing frightful reality to what is happening in the book which is moving from cautionary fiction to a grim truth. The technology is very real, and almost every home has it - with the Xbox One including a mandatory video and audio capturing device, with many laptops and other devices with the potential to record audio and video 24/7, are we just a generation away from the Big Brother world?

I'm not afraid of Microsoft, or ASUS, or any other company, they don't have any real intention to take over the world, they already have it, but, as we seen in the rise of the Russian revolution and countless other political movements, many companies can have weapons against their necks to force them to comply with whatever wishes a government may have.

The only thing preventing the current enslaving of western civilization is that we are still too strong to be easily tamed; as future generations become weaker in their approach to militant action against governments, and as the cosmopolitan lifestyle slowly turned even the most butch men into weaklings, we really need to consider our future.

 We've seen with the NSA revelations in the USA that the government already has the ability and, from the outside, there is absolutely nothing that can be done.

The technology and infrastructure is in place to allow the 1984 world to become a reality and the sad thing is that we payed for it, invited it in and demanded more of it. I'm using the same technology to type this, and it wouldn't surprise me that I've been added to a terrorist watch list in my own country for doing so.

Here's my theory on the future written in Orwellian style (with some comedy and satire):

It was a warm and unrelenting day, the sun was risen far above London and through the acidic clouds it was unforgiving in its assault on the senses, appearing green through the pollution. Chuck awoke to the piercing sound of the national anthem of the United States of Obama, the Ode to Masterchief, which was loud and did not allow for a moments rest; attached to the wall was a guardian. Chuck a man in this late 40s once knew them as Kinnect, the bringers of rage quit to those with funny voices.

Chuck was a skinny man, weighing less than 250lb, which at this time was eligible for entry into the Wii Earth Olympics. Chuck often pondered if life was always like this; he remembered vague points, the most memorable that of the elections to end all elections, the one where the party had risen, and Moot had taken control. At first it was peaceful, the Moot administration ended all US wars, claiming that 'we were not their personal army' although many things changed. Mudkips had become the national animal, children were being taught Memes and the elderly were awarded with the newly created 'oldfag star'.

Stretching, he reached for his ration of KFC gravy and consumed every litre of the delicious ooze. Chuck was luckier than most, he still maintained the ability to walk, although at times it was pointless as the need for many physical activities had been replaced. The orgasm soon died out as penises were unreachable by normal hands, and in a time not too distant ago, all sexual experiences were performed through SecondLife.

Chuck soon cleansed his thoughts. It was dangerous to have thoughts. Mods patrolled the streets and knew when someone had thought; worse yet were the admins who were assigned large hammers to ban anyone from continued life.

At every moment of every day every one was watched, recorded and surrounded by Google holographic adsense which instantly displayed the latest in mobility scooters.

Chuck did not know much but he did know that this was hell.

Scotland - the hated free loader of many English tax payers who hated paying for the free services on Scotland such as medicine, health care, education and public transport; Scotland's reputation as the freeloader of the United Kingdom has officially been shattered.

Thanks to the Yes Campaign for Scottish Independence firing their sorties into the Westminster government, it has become official that Scotland has been holding up the British economy for years, serving as the only economically sound area of the country outside of London.

Glasgow and Edinburgh have been overtaking the financial services in cities south of the border since devolution; Glasgow has become a cultural superhub for the nation, often being preferred by artists for its down-to-Earth atmosphere and energetic crowds; Edinburgh is vastly becoming the next London, with more companies setting up practices in the city than any other area outside of London, and certainly coming close to the top hot-shot areas of Europe.

Scotland's success economically has been down to devolution of both government and Scot's law -- everything Holyrood does, Westminster quickly copies: initiatives to enforce stricter regulation on smoking, cheap drinking, gay marriage and a better standard of life for the common man.

Why has Scotland become so popular as a business and cultural centre for Europe? Culture.

Scotland has a very common culture throughout the country where business meets home-roots; the difference between wealth in Scotland is astonishing at times, where many Scottish business owners actively engage in charitable work or making their home towns better to be. Scotland's cities have a mix of simple heritage, and are surrounded by hundreds of natural retreats which is often seen as a massive plus for those looking to invest without being trapped to the urban landscape.

The Scottish Government has ensured a socialist policy of supply the needs of Scottish citizens, with many services being preserved which the English have lost:

• Free education, abolished by the Conservative government

Scotland has a smaller population with large percentages living in the primary cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Stirling and Aberdeen. City life of the population effectively allows for services to be cost proficient rather than the population being spread mostly in smaller rural areas where access to large cities is hours away, such is the case in England. 

Consider that 94% of North Sea Reserves are recognized as being part of the Scottish coat line under International Law; this accounts for a significant income to the British economy, including an extensive level of investment to the Island which is not accounted for in the North Sea Reserves Revenue Review. 

In terms of energy, Scotland currently leads Europe and comes close to leading the world in renewable, substantially and ecologically stable power due to the nature of the Scottish pseudo-Antarctic coast-line which has potential for hydro and wind energy, which could ultimately provide an unlimited source of financially cost friendly energy as technology develops. 

According to the Department for Work and Pensions, Scotland is below the national average of unemployment, with just about 7% unemployment rate compared to the 7.8% national average of the UK. 

Historically, Scotland was the powerhouse of the UK for many, many industries, most notably textiles, ship building and natural resources; along with science and moral enlightenment, it is safe to assure the English that Scotland has given its fair share to the Island, if not above. 

Scotland is also ahead of the UK in economic growth, reports from both the Scottish Government and Westminster show:

Scotland also leads in science, thanks to all that 'useless' free education, with Scottish universities and projects being some of the highest recognized in the worst; Scotland is currently referred as the leader of bio-chemical research in Europe, and the world aside from the USA, with it's ecological sciences booming thanks to the research into green energy. 

Estimated to the value of the Scottish economy would be substantially higher when considering the trade tax, revenues from Scottish businesses which go straight to London, and the many other industries labeled as British despite only having a increasing investment in Scotland. 

Everything that Scotland has for free is funded by the Scottish people.

Scotland Politics: The sensible choice

In no short way thanks to devolution, corrupt politicians and people being subjected to the greed of their elected officials is, if not completely, become a thing of the past. 

The Scottish Government doesn't care what happened outside of Scotland, that's an important difference between the mentality of Westminster and Holyrood; where the British government would rather hold on the imperial forces, Scotland recognizes that it belongs to a wider community of nations, both in Europe and throughout the world. 

Scots Law evolved incredibly quickly as the people of Scotland have more say in the running of their government. Scotland was introducing same-sex marriage before it was even on the table for Westminster, as is the case for restrictions of alcohol and tobacco sales. 

Scots are known for our strong nature, and nothing has changed. We maintain the clan mentality of town vs. town, Edinburgh vs. Glasgow, but dear god, should you ever insult us as a nation, or our people, then we will united and use everything we collectively have to crush you. We have pride, without it being arrogance, we know our limits and we are happy to live within them. 

Scotland is more European and British in political influence: we share the same socialist/capitalist mix as European countries such as Sweden, Norway, France and the Netherlands. It's not a bad thing, if anything it's deal - take money from the wealthy businesses to fund progressive advancements and free essential items; business can still make money while the people are able to enjoy a better standard of life. 

Local authorities are also more accountable as the Scottish government has made it very clear, and will be introducing legislation later this year, to ensure that community groups have the authority and resources to maintain services and hold their councils to accountability.

London Syndrome

If the English want to know who the true freeloaders are then they should look to London, not just the Parliament there, but the entire city.

The city reeks of corruption. 

The problem with the UK is that most investment goes to large cities, in Scotland this is less of a problem due to the closeness of cities to many rural areas. I, myself, have never had a job in my home town of Barrhead, but instead have either commuted to Paisley or Glasgow, both of which are less than 30 minutes away. Edinbirgh is across the country but is still only an hour's train journey.

Everything goes to London and the rest of the UK is forgotten and left to fend for itself. 

I plead the English to stop casting blame on us Scots, we didn't chose to have a Conservative government, that was all you. LITERALLY, we have 1 Conservative MP. 

Blame the British Government, try to become independence, strive to have your own parliament which is just for England, and then you will enjoy what we have. 

London has been a leach for all nations in this country for 40 years now, it's time to end it and spread investment, and stop the London Syndrome of greed and putting business about your countrymen. 

Black Sabbath - 13 review

Black Sabbath are back! The aging rockers have returned with their brand new album '13' which is showing no signs of age, but instead wisdom in this masterpiece of an album!

13 is distinctive in that is shares the same Sabbath composition and acoustic value as previous album, and certainly wont be lost on the ears of original Sabbath fans who will now be able to share the love of the band with the next generation of rockers and metal heads.

Album quality

Make no mistake, this album has clearly has a lot of love and careful effort put in to it. Music will always be up to interpretation however I feel this may be Sabbath using their old age and many years to reflect on life in album, which is in no way a bad thing! 

Past Sabbath albums have always contained themes often avoided such as mental illness, drug misuse, and the downside of the rock and roll lifestyle, and this album seems to be bringing the story of the band's many problems in the past to a close while still being full of inspiration. 

On a more shallow level, this album will appeal to slow rockers and mellow metal heads rather than nu-metal    punks and moshers. The rhythm in many of the songs opens itself up to headbangers, so headbangers may send their thanks to the band for that one. The album is heavy with the tempo being slow - in traditional Sabbath style. 

Enjoy either while contemplating the deeper thoughts in life, relaxing after being exposed to the mainstream masses, or when plotting your next great adventure. 

Music Quality and Mixing

It's refreshing to hear the awe inspiring music of Black Sabbath with the recording capabilities of the 21st century music industry. 

There's a lot going on in this album which can sometimes be overwhelming to the senses, although this may only add a interest in digging deeper into the rhythm and exploring the notes of the music, which certainly was the experience for myself. 

The album have the distinct post-60s to mid-70s feel to it and sounds as though something which would have been produced at the earlier stages of bands progression through music history; another refreshing attribute is that this album doesn't force over-the-top hardcore composition through the ears of the listener, but instead relies on Ozzy's traditionally dark voice to establish the dark atmosphere. 

Ozzy's voice has shown no tear from old age and may actually be getting darker and more powerful; as someone who evolved from bands such as Asking Alexandria and Disturbed to Sabbath, Motorhead and Hendric, it gives me hope that Sabbath's reign as one of the best bands in the history of the genre may be kept for another 40 years!

The mixing of the instruments is excellent, and I am particularly happy that the bass has remained true to Sabbath style by maintaining its power in most of the songs and not allowed itself to be over powered by the guitars or drums; something so sadly overlooked in metal. The bass is like my wet dream for music. 

At points some of the guitar parts sound as though they were recorded in a booth rather than direct input, go to the main guitar rift of 'damaged souls' to see what I mean. Does it bother me? Not really, it adds a nice organic feel to the music.

Lyrics

Poetry.

I am so happy that Sabbath has returned and their moral lessons neither place those with the problems described in the victim or villain category, which has been an annoying trend in modern metal; Sabbath has a apathetic expressionist view in their lyrics, which can only be accounted as poetry. 

They haven't skipped hard-hitting topics, and as I said above, they approach it with an apathetic tone, most clearly heard in the song Methademic which seems like a direct reflection on the sex, drugs and rock and roll life style. I wont ruin the lyrics for you with spoilers, so go get the album and enjoy!

Albums like 13 remind me which I swung from mainstream music to rock and metal: the non censored moral complexity. 

Some of the lyrics are written in a way that connects with previous albums, and a few songs in particular give me the impressed that they could be Iron Man PtII, Paranoid PtII or Crazy Train PtII. Listen to the songs and make your own mind up about that, I wont give you the songs I believe this may be the case for so that you aren't influenced by it.

The lyrics in 13 are nothing short of amazing, and both new and old will be able to enjoy the non-repetitive, flowing and beautiful lyrics. 

End review

I've heard others state that 13 is repetitive and that the song composition is almost entirely the same throughout the album; on the surface they are correct.

To be able to enjoy Sabbath to its fullest, you must be able to allow yourself the chance to explore each layer of every song - you will find that within each melody are melodies all their own.  Sabbath's style is dated without being old; many musicians have their unique style, and I am glad Sabbath have not sold out their influences in the same way that bands such as Fall Out Boy and Bullet for my Valentine have. 

Sabbath have their style, and thank Satan it hasn't vanished!
